Materials

All MIUTTO curated jewelry is crafted exclusively from precious metals, including 925 sterling silver, 14k gold plating, 14k solid gold, 18k solid gold, and 24k solid gold. All pieces are nickel-free. Every silver item is treated with an anti-tarnish layer to help slow down the natural oxidation process. This protective layer will gradually fade over time due to wear, contact with clothing, hard surfaces, hand sanitizer, sweat, perfume, hairspray, air pollution, and other external factors.

Our gold plating is applied with 18k gold at a thickness of 2–3 microns. Because individual body chemistry affects plating durability, the lifespan of gold plating may vary from person to person. Please note that natural fading of gold plating is not considered a manufacturing defect. We are happy to re-plate your pieces for a symbolic fee, depending on the size of the item.

All jewelry pieces are certified in accordance with Lithuanian Hallmarking Requirements.

All precious and semi-precious stones are hand-selected by our designers to ensure the best quality and color.

Jewelry Care

With proper care, you can enjoy your precious jewelry for many years to come.

The same thoughtful habits you apply to caring for quality household or wardrobe items also apply to jewelry. Regular cleaning, gentle polishing, and proper storage will help preserve its beauty and ensure a lifetime of enjoyment.

For convenient at-home care, we also offer a professional jewelry care kit designed to safely clean and maintain your pieces between professional visits.

Here are a few simple tips to help prevent premature wear and keep your jewelry in excellent condition.

Wearing & Daily Habits

  • Put on jewelry last: Apply jewelry after you’ve finished with cosmetics — perfume, lotions, hairspray, etc. Chemicals in these can dull metals, especially silver.
  • Remove jewelry during risky activities: Take off your jewelry before cleaning, exercising, showering, swimming, or anything involving chemicals or salt water.
  • Gentle handling: Avoid banging pieces against hard surfaces. Silver and gold are softer than you might think, and gemstones or settings can be damaged.

Storage

  • Store jewelry individually: Use pouches or soft boxes so pieces don’t scratch or tangle.
  • For silver: keep it in a sealed, dry place, protected from humidity, sunlight, and sulfur-containing materials (like some papers or rubber).
  • If your environment is humid, consider adding silica gel packets to your jewelry box — this helps reduce moisture.

Silver Jewelry:

Due to natural oxidation (a chemical reaction between silver and various substances in the environment), all silver jewellery will darken and lose some of its original shine.

If you’d like to keep your silver looking bright for longer, simply follow these basic care recommendations:

  • Use a silver-polishing cloth regularly to remove fingerprints and light dirt and restore shine.
  • For deeper cleaning: put a small amount of silver cleaner on a soft cloth, rub gently, rinse in warm water, then dry well.
  • Be cautious with very aggressive cleaning — if your silver has an oxidized finish (deliberately darkened details), too much polishing can remove that effect.

Gold and Platinum Jewelry:

  • Avoid exposing these metals to bleach or strong household cleaners — they can damage the metal.
  • To clean: use a jewelry cleaner solution (or spray) designed for gold/platinum, let it sit briefly (e.g., 2 minutes), then gently brush—especially in crevices—with a soft bristle brush.
  • Rinse, blot dry, and finish by polishing with a soft cloth or a metal polishing cloth.

Gemstone Settings:

  • If your jewelry has stones, avoid cleaning them harshly. Water + mild detergent is ok for many, but for delicate or multiple stones, get a professional to clean them.
  • Regularly check settings, prongs, clasps, and stones. A yearly check-up by a jeweler is a good idea.
